Our role, stated plainly: SOC 2 reports are issued only by licensed, independent CPA firms. Rakvora prepares you for that audit and supports you through it. Keeping the readiness partner and the auditor separate protects your report's independence — and its credibility with your customers.

Why SOC 2

The report your buyers' security teams ask for first.

For SaaS companies and service providers that store or process customer data, a SOC 2 report replaces dozens of security questionnaires with one independent attestation.

Shorter sales cycles

Answer security reviews with a report instead of weeks of back-and-forth.

Access to enterprise and US markets

Many procurement teams won't proceed without one.

A genuinely stronger security programme

Done properly, the controls reduce real risk — not just audit risk.

Type 1 vs Type 2

Trust Services Criteria

Scope it to what your customers need.

Every SOC 2 report covers Security. The other four criteria are added only when your commitments call for them — we help you keep scope tight and relevant.

Security Required

Protection of systems and data against unauthorised access. The Common Criteria every SOC 2 report includes.

Availability Optional

Systems are available for operation and use as committed — uptime, capacity, backup and disaster recovery.

Processing integrity Optional

System processing is complete, valid, accurate, timely and authorised.

Confidentiality Optional

Information designated as confidential is protected throughout its lifecycle.

Privacy Optional

Personal information is collected, used, retained and disposed of in line with your commitments.

FAQ

SOC 2 questions, answered.

What is SOC 2?

SOC 2 is an attestation framework developed by the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). An independent CPA firm examines your controls against the Trust Services Criteria and issues a report your customers can rely on.

It has become the default security assurance that B2B buyers — particularly in North America — ask SaaS and service providers for during procurement.

Does Rakvora issue the SOC 2 report?

No. SOC 2 reports can only be issued by a licensed CPA firm, and auditor independence rules mean the firm that helps you prepare should not be the firm that audits you.

Rakvora is your readiness partner: we get you audit-ready, help you choose and work with an independent auditor, and support you through fieldwork. This separation is what makes your final report credible.

Should we start with Type 1 or Type 2?

If a customer needs assurance quickly, a Type 1 report is the fastest route — it confirms your controls are designed and in place at a point in time. Most customers will eventually ask for Type 2, which tests that controls operated effectively over a period (commonly 3–12 months).

Many companies do a Type 1 first and start their Type 2 observation window straight after. We help you choose based on your sales pipeline.

How long does it take to become audit-ready?

It depends on your starting point. A company with good engineering hygiene but little documentation can often be Type 1-ready in roughly two to three months. Larger environments or significant control gaps take longer. Your gap assessment gives you a realistic timeline before you commit.

Which Trust Services Criteria should we include?

Security is always included. Add others only when your customers or contracts need them — for example Availability if you make uptime commitments, or Confidentiality if you handle sensitive customer data. A smaller, well-chosen scope means less cost and less audit effort.

Do we need a penetration test for SOC 2?

SOC 2 does not mandate a penetration test by name, but auditors commonly expect evidence that you identify and address vulnerabilities, and customers frequently ask for a recent pentest alongside your report. We can perform it as part of your readiness programme.

We already have ISO 27001 — does that help?

Yes. There is significant overlap between ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2. We map your existing ISMS controls to the Trust Services Criteria so you reuse evidence instead of duplicating work.
